My Writing Routine

Where I like to put pen to paper.  It really doesn't matter where I'm at to get inspired.  Views do nothing for me, if I have writers block.  Most of my writing is done at the kitchen table.  More room!  My desk literally has no space for my writing.

One day, I hope to have an office with lot's of room for my books and a place to write.  It doesn't have to be decorated fancy, as long as I have a place to write.  In the  morning, noon, or night. I don't have a set time, for when I like to write.

How many words I write a day?

I can't tell you how many words I write a day, too many distractions.  I would love to hide and devote all my time to writing, but "duty calls."  I'm dealing with a parent with dementia.  Believe it or not it's a full time job.

What do I drink while writing?

I'm elated that I don't drink coffee or tea while writing.  To tell you the truth, I don't drink coffee at all.  I prefer water only!

     Procrastinator

OF course, I'm a procrastinator.  I'm quite sure most writers are.  Even though I love what I do.  It's a challenge for me while blogging.  I have to check my e-mail, check on my dad, and then complain to my daughter about how things are going.  Which she doesn't her me, do to her watching make-up video.  Finally, it's time to sit down and continue blogging or writing.

What's your writing routine?

How I name my Characters

That depends on the type of story I'm writing about.  Take for instance, when I was writing "the Woman in the Black Cloak."  Frustration set-in. I knew it was a story about a witch that wanted revenge for the death of her parents and grand parents.  I figured that the story should take place in Salem Lot.  You assume all witches come from Salem Lot. Very intelligent of me. Not!  Boy, did I make an awful blunder.  Witches can also come from Europe....

Characters  - I knew that I needed a couple of witches; warlocks, unicorns, black panthers, and the humans.  They had to have awesome names.  The names should suit the characters personality.  The names I came up with goes along with the story.

For the names of the witches; warlocks, unicorns, and black panthers.  It was a challenge at first, but I made the decision to go with the internet.

Google: Names of the 1800's Salem Lot.  "Witches and warlocks," you would be surprise what you can find.

Humans: I used the names from television, movies, or from you tube. As long as the characters name, goes along with the story.

How do you come up with your characters name?

When I'm Stuck

When I'm writing a manuscript and I get stuck and don't know which way the story should go.  I can remember going into panic mode.  After writing nine manuscripts, you would think I would be use to it.  Well, this is my story...

     "Will Elizabeth marry Peter?"
"Should Elizabeth be in the story?"
"When should the villain reveal himself?"
"In the middle or towards the end of the story?"
     "Should there be a villain?"
"Will Peter end up saving the day?"

So many questions.  Most people would say "keep working, you don't want to lose any momentum you started with."  For me, I take a break!

One day, while looking through a magazine. I don't remember which magazine it was.  I came across this saying "When you're stuck, take a break." Words to live by! I ended up cutting the saying out of my magazine and adding it to my Vision Board. It not only works when I'm writing, but if I'm going through other things that's going on in my day to day crazy life.

What are some of the things you do when you're stuck?
